"Timber Frame Barns"
use traditional mortise and tenon construction where wooden pegs hold the massive wood joinery
connections together instead of metal fasteners or nails. These buildings are usually covered
in wood siding but metal panels can also be used. The time to cut the complex joinery and the
extra expense of large oak, douglas fir and pine timbers make this traditional style of barn
more expensive than Pole Barns.
