This barn was partly collapsed (as photographed) also most the wood was well preserved by being covered with galvanized metal in the 1960s. We will sell as timber frame set as it is cataloged and could easily be rebuilt as a smaller barn or many other designs. The frame is stored in a dry building in Topeka, KS. Description: These barn beams are around 161 years old. All the logs are hewn by hand. Pictured L to R: 7.5' L x 6 x 9; 17' 5.75 L x 7 x 8.75; 17' 5.5 L x 7.75 x 9; 17' 6.25 L x 8 x 9; 17' 7.75 L x 7.5 x 9.5; 17' 10.5 x 7 x 7.25. There are also 2-10' logs not pictured. The barn that these beams came from is still intact. There was some remodeling done in which these beams were replaced.
Willing to sell beams separately, but you will have to come pick them up. May be able to meet you or deliver within reasonable distance. |

Description: Wood taken from a 100+ year old barn that was located on an old homestead, south of Lawrence - N. of Baldwin City. Board foot is 5,500+ and this does not include the foundation beams and joists (you can see these in one of the photos enclosed). Most of the wood in the barn was old hardwood pine and was constructed using mortise and tenion construction methods. The barn was inspected by an engineer, prior to being dismantled and was found to be structurally sound. Most of the hardware and nails have been removed from the wood and the wood washed (NOT pressure washed). The wood has been stored indoors with spacers separating layers to allow adequate air flow.
This wood is ideal for use in the making of custom furniture, cabinets, frames, or even in a remodel or build. Our original plan was to re-erect the structure as our private residence.
We are interested in selling the wood in whole, not small loads. You would need to arrange for transportation or I can transport the wood for you (within 25 miles) for an additional fee. (Note: myself and one other person loaded and unloaded this wood manually so it is not an impossible job.)
